Prerequisites: Art 1 (912000), Fashion Marketing (814000), Introduction To Interior and Fashion Design (825432) or approval of instructor.
The Fashion Design I students will begin to explore an in-depth creative process and develop technical and presentation skills in the field of fashion design. The program will emphasize design concepts, sketching, draping, pattern making and garment construction. These skills will enable the student to design and construct a project from creative conception to completion. A lab fee is required for this course.
Students will have the opportunity to explore the world of fashion by developing technical skills and participating in fashion and art events locally.
This course will emphasize:
• art and fashion history
• color rendering with pencils and markers
• design concepts and composition
• fashion illustration
• textiles
• fashion public relations and marketing
• design using Photoshop
• flat sketching
• introduction to sewing.
These skills will enable students to understand the fashion industry and career opportunities being offered in the field of fashion design.
