What is Camp Project Stitch?
Project Stitch Fashion Design Camp is for students who would have an interest in fashion and/or aspire to a career within this multibillion dollar industry. After learning the art of fashion, students will move on to learn the history of fashion design and the ins and outs of the fashion industry from behind the scenes. Students learn about design development, research fashion designers and their styles, sketch a fashion figure, construct a concept board, learn how to use a sewing machine, explore fabric selection, practice visual merchandising and learn the importance of a fashion show and how it works. Students will also have the opportunity to showcase their innovative designs in our designer showcase at the Mini-Graduation Fashion Show on the last week of the workshop.
What is the mission of Camp Project Stitch?
The camp will help students develop responsible and positive attitudes toward their societal roles. Through lab experiences and simulated hands-on activities with peers, students will develop basic skills in sewing, clothing care, peer relationships, entrepreneurship, character development and etiquette.
What will students engage in while at camp?
•Learn the foundation of how to sew apparel items
•Recreate a new outfit
•Basic etiquette skills - mock business luncheon, how to walk with confidence.
•Develop advanced technical skills
•Field trip to area fabric store
•Teamwork exercises - Project Runway
•Learn to design and construct concepts to create a project
What types of projects will campers create? Students will create an original handbag, Tee-Art, circle skirt, & project runway designs. Every Wednesday is Fashion Technology day. Students will learn the latest and greatest about Adobe Creative Suite.
